Spells rank among Earth's earliest written documents. Throughout our history, spells have been written, hidden and coded. Witches recorded their knowledge in books called the "Book of Shadows". These books were intended to pass on from person to person, many of these books were destroyed in the witch trials and many spells have been lost because of this.
